Take the county road east between the rest area and the church approximately 5.9 miles to a fork. Stay on the main road to the southeast (right). In 1.9 miles are green double gates to a ranch entrance. Park here or drive 200 yards north on an unimproved BLM way and park.

Hike (Ana River quad) easterly across the flat 1.6 miles, skirting the fence to avoid private land on the south. Climb up a low ridge (Diablo Peak quad) and bear southeasterly to intersect with a very faint jeep trail that goes up Cat Camp Draw (you really don't need it). At the head of the draw (2.2 miles from flat), climb steeply and northeasterly 1.4 miles to the Diablo Peak summit. Return as you came.
