Go southerly on OR 201 8.0 miles. As OR 201 turns east, continue south on the county road to Succor Creek State Recreation Area. After approximately 26 miles turn westerly to Leslie Gulch. After approximately 3.0 miles turn westerly (you're pointed southwesterly) onto a lower-standard road. The road soon turns north- westerly and then northerly. After approximately 12.3 miles park where a jeep trail takes off westerly.
This is a two-night backpack. Hike (Three Fingers Rock quad) this four-wheel-drive track 1.2 miles to the end (Pelican Point quad). Pick up the cattle/game/human trail down-canyon. It comes and goes, so keep an eye out. Walk 2.7 miles to Carlton Canyon and then 2.6 miles down-canyon to the reservoir for water. Camp in lower Carlton Canyon. The next day, hike to the summit of Saddle Butte for great views and then to Bensley Flat. Walk up the unnamed stream bottom into the heart of the Honeycombs (4 miles one way from camp). Return as you came.
